Kids’ Chance of Delaware is a member of Kids' Chance, Inc., a national non-profit organization that was created for the purpose of supporting and providing educational opportunities and scholarships for the children of workers who were fatally or catastrophically injured on the job. These workers can no longer earn an income to support post-secondary educational opportunities for their children beyond high school and will need additional assistance.
✦ In 2015, 4,836 workers died from a work-related injury in the U.S., the highest annual figure since 2008. Nearly 20 percent of fatally-injured workers were employed in the private construction industry.
✦Delaware occupational fatalities have ranged from 15 in 2006 to 8 in 2015.
✦In 2017 there were 7,760 petitions filed with the Industrial Accident Board of DE.
✦Workers 25-44 years old accounted for 75% of Delaware’s work-related fatalities in 2015, compared to 34% nationwide.

✦ For the 2014–15 academic year, the average costs for undergraduate tuition, fees, room, and board were estimated to be $16,188 at public institutions, $41,970 at private nonprofit institutions, and $23,372 at private for-profit institutions.

✦In 2016, over 5,000 educational scholarships and over $16M in scholarship funds were distributed by Kids' Chance state organizations.
